Aprilia timing is perfect for Lowes
Sam Lowes’ move to the factory Aprilia squad in 2017 could be a stroke of genius. When he signed the deal, Aprilia were off the pace in Motogp and clearly just making up the numbers. But during 2016 they have made incredible progress. Evidence of which came at Aragon with both its riders, Alvaro Bautista and Stefan Bradl, in the top 10 and ahead of the factory Ducatis.
Lowes has been busy testing the new bike and remains impressed with the speed of development of the new package.
“The new Aprilia chassis is fantastic!” he said. “The bike has improved a lot. You have to remember it was a new bike this year, and it was always going to take a while to get there, but they’re doing an amazing job.
“The power and the gearbox are fantastic; the only area where it needs to improve is the turning. The grip is good once you’ve got it turned in, but part of that is me not having as much confidence because the front Michelin doesn’t give as much feedback as the Dunlop.”
