Perfect if you’re oddly bendy’
Hideout custom two-piece leathers £1200 approx Tester Rupert Paul Time tested Five months/6000 miles
What’s good? I have always had trouble getting off-the-peg trousers to fit because, apparently, I have long thigh bones. On the other hand, madeto-measure trousers are usually less flexible than off-the-peg, and I like to move a lot when riding. Eventually I got so fed up I went to Hideout in Essex and spent £1200 of my own money on a new suit. It’s a great place. I made sure Kate Jennings (for it is she you will speak to) understood that I was unusually bendy, and extremely fed up with ill-fitting leathers. She listened carefully, and made time to discuss style, riding position, and any embellishment (ha! I went for grey thread). I went back once for a half-way fitting, then two weeks later to pick it up. The crash protection is obviously excellent, and the trousers do everything I wanted. I also really like supporting a UK business.
What’s not? After 2000 miles I decided the jacket was too snug round the shoulders. “No problem,” said Kate. “Come in and we’ll sort you out.” I’ll be there in a couple of weeks.
