HASLAM IMPRESSES WITH WILDCARD WSB RETURN
MCE British Superbike-runner up Leon Haslam turned heads as he returned to WSB in a one-off ride for the Pedercini Kawasaki team.
At a track he won at with Aprilia last year, Haslam stormed through from 16th on the grid to take fifth place finish in Sunday’s restarted second race despite having been absent from WSB for a year.
“Friday was a disaster, Saturday was a disaster, but the guys worked really hard,” said Haslam, who missed almost all of the first hour on the opening day.
“That was our third engine change of the weekend. We had a big vibration and interference with how the electronics were working. Today’s engine was working better and chassis-wise I was happy with the progress we have made, all from minimal laps.
“That was Pedercini’s best result in the dry this year, and we were up to third at one point in the race so I’m mroe than happy!”
‘Remember me?’ Leon’s back but it’s only a one-off
