WSB in brief
■ Sylvain Guintoli took Yamaha’s first podium since 2011 with third place in Saturday’s opening race. The Frenchman is still without a seat for 2017, but is in talks with IODA Racing as well as a number of BSB teams.
■ Nicky Hayden was forced to start his final WSB race of the year from pit lane after exceeding his engine allocation but he was still able to secure fifth overall in his rookie season.
■ Luke Stapleford (below) secured both his and Triumph’s first ever Supersport pole on Saturday. Unfortunately, he crashed out of contention in the opening stages of the race with a hard-fought victory going to fellow Brit, Kyle Smith – who beat World Champion Sofuoglu by just 0.006 seconds.
