S-class THE FACTS 150bhp 209kg / 211kg (S) Seat height 795-820m

For 2017, the biggest offering in the Monster family gets a sleeker tank, a redesigned sports-style tail, an all-new headlight and an electronics package derived from the 1299 Panigale’s.

In terms of design, this updated version is heading closer towards the original bike, and even gets little details like the steel tank once again being fitted with an attachment clip.

Still available in two versions, a standard 1200 and a 1200S, both retain the latest version of the Testastretta 11° DS engine, which is now knocking out a rather healthy claimed 150bhp at 9250rpm – a 15bhp boost over the outgoing model in stock guise, and 5bhp more than the outgoing S variant.

Still in residence behind the selector buttons on the bars is a comprehensive electronics package including the Inertial Measurement Unit that feeds information to the Bosch Cornering ABS and Ducati Wheelie Control systems.

The stocker is expected to cost around £11,495. The S model gets a bit more control refinement from the 48mm Öhlins fork and rear monoshock, both fully adjustable, and it also gets a braking upgrade to a set of beefy Brembo M50 calipers and 330mm discs. Its three Y-spoke wheels also feature exclusive ‘S’ graphics, and it gets a carbon front fender, Daytime Running Light system and LED indicators.

The S will set you back around £14,395, when it arrives in the New Year.
