A couple of weeks ago I fitted Triumph’s Café Racer fairing to my Thruxton R. At first I was slightly dubious of it as it required the fitment of a low handlebar kit, and the bike had been amazingly comfortable with the standard bar risers. I had no choice, the kit had to be fitted otherwise the bars would foul the fairing. The riding position is lower, but I’m pleased to say I feel I am interacting more with the bike, with more weight over the front wheel the steering feels very positive. The fairing pushes slightly more wind onto my chest than before, but this helps take weight off my wrists. I’ve not ridden in heavy traffic yet.
