17. DUCATI 1299 SUPERLEGGERA
HIGHLIGHTS O Carbon fibre frame, wheels and swingarm O Carbon fibre fairings O Öhlins suspension
Number 17? What the hell is this doing at Number 17? It should be at number one, surely? Well, at £72,000, and with every single one of the 500 having sold out already, it’s been relegated by an unusual dose of realism. But you absolutely have to go and stare at it – quite possibly for an entire day.
It’s the first production bike to be equipped with a carbon frame, swingarm, subframe and wheels, and results in a gobsmacking kerb mass of just 167kg – or 156kg dry. The monocoque frame, beefy single-sided swingarm, subframe, fairings and wheels are all constructed from superhigh-end carbon, and all are unique to the new Superleggera. And it boasts an exceptional electronics package, too.
Combine such a low mass with the incredible 215bhp output from the 1285cc L-twin Superquadro engine, and it should add up to the one of the most devastatingly effective superbike packages ever created.
