Lorenzo’s best moments at Yamaha
With the three-time world champion Ducati-bound as soon as this week’s post-season test at Valencia is over, Lorenzo shared with us his personal highlights from his nine years with Yamaha.
The best race?
“Assen in 2013 was very special, as I achieved one thing that had been impossible to achieve in all the history of Motogp – coming from an operation in 13 hours and finishing a Motogp race in the top five.”
The best bike?
“The bike in 2008 was very strong. But then in 2009 and the first part of 2010 we also had the best bike. In 2012, we didn’t have the chattering problem some factories had, and last year’s was good, too. Half of my time there, we probably had the best bike.”
The best win?
“Last year in Valencia. I had all the pressure on me and I reached my highest level and had very high pressure from the Honda guys during the race. It was probably the closest championship in all my career, and I won my last world title for Yamaha.”
The best championship?
“Not the last one, as I didn’t feel great with the Michelin tyres, but we still finished at a good level. 2015 was probably my strongest season, because that’s where I reached my top level as a rider. I hope we will work hard to reach an even better level in the future.”
Will Lorenzo be a frequent podium visitor with Ducati?
