HEIGHT 6ft 1in WEIGHT 98kg simon.relph@motorcyclenews.com When I spotted MCN Senior Road Tester Michael Neeves riding an almost identical Thruxton R to mine on the original Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsas, I jumped at the chance to compare them to the Metzeler Roadtec 01s I have been using. The difference was quite considerable when ridden one after the other. The Pirellis were more agile round corners and felt very sporty but at the cost of the feel for grip, even when warmed up a bit. However nice the sporty feel was, I would have to go for the Metzelers, purely for the total confident feel they give me, and the sheer amount of grip they offer on a cold wet day. I think I will save the Pirellis for the summer.

Brace of Thruxtons? Can’t be bad
