New bike’s a pain in the bum

Motorcycle News (UK) - - Comment -

Back in April I purchased a new Yamaha Tracer 900. Prior to this I had a test ride and while impressed with the handling, brakes and engine, I thought it was uncomfortable and so opted for the comfort seat at £222. This did not solve the problem and I soon realised it was the rear shock that was the cause. This was confirmed when I visited an official dealer who said the problem was due to “a cheap rear suspension unit and customers were replacing it with a Nitron shock.” I was not prepared to spend £500 doing this so wrote to Yamaha in August to complain. Since then all I have had from them was a telephone call saying the bike is fit for purpose and they would write to me to confirm. Nearly three months later nothing. Will I buy another Yamaha? What do you think? Ray Brassington, email
