WSB STAR TO JOIN BATTLE IN BRITAIN
Tyco BMW have confirmed that former factory Ducati World Superbike star Davide Giugliano will ride alongside Christian Iddon in the 2017 MCE British Superbike Championship.
The Northern Irish squad struggled in 2016 with Christian Iddon and Michael Laverty so wanted to sign a big-name rider to front their title efforts in 2017.
Wi th no knowledge of British circuits with the exception of Silverstone, Donington and Brands GP and a strong reputation for crashing, Giugliano is a big risk for Tyco, who will be hoping the Italian will become one of the growing number of world-stage riders to reignite their careers in BSB.
The Italian showed fast pace in WSB with both Ducati and Aprilia, but was unable to ever win a race due to a lack of consistency.
He said: “I’m very happy to be joining the Tyco BMW squad for my first season in BSB. I have ridden on some of the British circuits already during my time in WSB and will look forward to riding the others next year.
“I have raced against the BMW S1000RR in WSB and it is a very strong package with a lot of potential so I’m looking forward to getting started and showing what I can do in BSB on one.”
Iddon will be hoping to do better next year too after he faded badly after a very strong start to the season.
