British Supersport ZX-6RR
16,000rpm, fast-handling, 145bhp… if only you could buy a 600 like this for the road...
The bars are surprisingly wide, the pegs aren’t up near my arse and the seat has little padding allowing me to freely move around. Over the start/finish the noise from the full Scorpion exhaust is intoxicating. Make it scream up to the redline, tapping on the FWR quick-shifter up to fifth gear, before squeezing the Renthal lever and changing back two gears and once more in to kneedown happiness. It’s bliss. Obviously the power is impressive, but it’s not a peaky and unrideable screamer, there’s plenty of torque and drive from low down. The Öhlins front end is impressive as is the rear shock. What surprised me was the handling. This bike is manageable, with brilliant drive and mechanical grip and all without clever electronics.
Tech spec 145bhp, 161kg Race record British Supersport Championsh ip winner. Why it matters? It shows just how dynamic a 600 can be.
