Big signings for 2017 roads season
The 2017 international road racing season is beginning to take shape with a number of big-name signings over the last couple of weeks. As expected, TT hero Ian Hutchinson will remain with Tyco BMW for an attack on next year’s major internationals, with the most important aim for the Bingley Bullet to lay claim to the Senior TT title.
It was a big week for Ballymoney man William Dunlop, too, who confirmed he will be riding for the Halsall Racing team as they make the move from the MCE British Superbike Championship to join the road racing scene. Dunlop and the Bolton-based squad are yet to confirm which bikes they will run, but Halsall has said with no tie to a particular manufacturer, they will set out to choose the best machinery for each individual class.
Aussie David Johnson will remain with the iconic Norton marque, who confirmed to MCN they will continue with the ex-motogp Aprilia V4 motor in 2017 while they continue to develop their own, in-house engine which was revealed as the powerhouse of their all-new V4 superbike earlier this week. Also announced this week was that Steve Mercer will join Ivan Lintin in the RC Express Kawasaki team.
