Prices of the MT-07 hold firm as demand remains high
London is stuffed with Yamaha MT- 07s and MT- 09s. I see half a dozen on my daily commute, and there are three in our office car park.
The MT- 07 is a brilliant fun bike and a stonking bargain, but it’s also holding its value. The launch price was £5199 and you won’t find a decent used one privately for under £3500. Mostly, you’re looking around £4000-£4500.
The MT-09 is less in demand (not the Tracer, though). Early models didn’t have the fuelling and suspension sorted. Sure, it was a couple of hundred quid cheaper than the all-conquering Street Triple, but the Street is a truly great bike and the original MT- 09 had its flaws.
Launch price was £6799, and used ones start at around £4000, so almost the same as the MT-07 and worse residuals. Given the choice, I’d choose the 07, and if I wanted a used naked middleweight, it would be the Triumph, every time.
Lowish used values might give the PCP guys some headaches, too. PCP sales are utterly dependent on the bikes being worth a certain sum at the end of the contract, because that’s when a lot get handed back.
