DAVIES’ 2016 FIGHT
With double victories at both Aragon and Imola, Davies wasn’t far off Rea at the start of the season and it looked as though the Welshman was only going to get stronger.
Not one but two crashes in the opening race at Donington Park marked the first of three DNFS from five races for Davies, handing valuable points to his Kawasaki rivals and wrecking his title hopes.
Late season breakthrough
A set-up revelation at a test during WSB’S long summer break saw Davies become the dominant force at the end of the season with seven wins out of eight to hoist his 2016 win total to 11, two more than Rea.
