Prancing on ice

Motorcycle News (UK) - - This Week -

This is Aras Gibieža – and he’s clearly deranged. Seen here hooning around frozen ponds of Burbiškis Manor and Aukštaitija National Park lakes in Lithuania, he’s riding a highly modified Kawasaki Ninja 636, and running on home-made studded ice tyres. If you want the proof that he was in total control – rather than being captured here mid crash – you can watch the video at motorcyclenews.com now. The film was produced by Latvian crew Robyworks, and co-producer Giedrius Čenkus says this winter wonderland spectacle was not straightforward to capture. “It took us four days to shoot,” said Čenkus. “We had very limited daylight. It was -12ºc outside and in some parts there was broken ice and water on the surface. In the last scene, where Aras breaks up the ice, we had to use safety rope in case he dived too far under the ice and got lost. We could to drag him out with the rope.” Nuts.
