Leave the Guy alone

Motorcycle News (UK) - - This Week -

In response to letter of the week from Rob Allen. We all know Guy Martin’s a bit of an eccentric, a bit of a nonconformist. That’s why he appeals to so many bikers. It’s that sense of individuality. I watched him on Our Guy In China the other night, “travel broadens the mind” was one of his quotes, and it’s true. It looks like he’s got an opportunity many of us would relish, doing stuff we don’t normally get the chance to do. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see him on that IOM top step. He deserves it. But if racing got too corporate for him, if he just wasn’t getting the buzz from racing, who can blame him for looking elsewhere? It’s like Stoner, we’d all like to see him mixing it with Vinales, Marquez, Rossi, Lorenzo and the rest, but it’s his call. Good luck to the bloke. Anyway, Guy makes good TV and writes a decent book too. As well as being a half decent truck fitter. Steve Bellwood, Selby
