What’s good? You know the preconception that socks make really naff Christmas presents? Forget it if you get a pair of these this year – they’re genuinely brilliant.

It’s the perfect answer to boots that have a tendency to let water in. They’re completely waterproof thanks to the Stretchdry membrane, something that I’ve even gone to the lengths of testing by submerging my feet in a bath, finding that my tootsies stayed completely dry. They’re also hard-wearing, comfortable, breathable, windproof, and come in differing lengths and thicknesses to suit your footwear. I was initially sceptical about shelling out £33 for a pair of socks, but a week of wild camping in Scotland with no drying facilities forced my hand. If you need the hosiery equivalent of a Swiss army knife then look no further.

What’s not? £33 of your finest English pounds may seem a lot to pay for a pair of socks, but they are worth it.

They don’t let a drop of water through. Even if you wear them in the bath...
