STAGE 1 Race start in Asuncion, Paraguay, January 2.
STAGE 3 The event moves into the mountains where it will stay above 3000m for the next eight days.
STAGE 4 Rally reaches its ‘cruising altitude’ of 3600m, the first of the long special stages of 416km (260 miles) and the first sand dunes. STAGE 6 The longest special of the event at 527km (330 miles).
STAGE 7 Part one of the marathon stages. Riders go minus mechanical assistance for two days, the second of which has terrain ‘like the moon’.
STAGE 9 At 1000km (621 miles) this is the longest day in the rally and could prove a decisive day in the race. STAGE 10 A difficult day technically with a lot of ‘trials-like’ sections.
STAGE 12 The final day, January 14, has a short, easy, special. Riders will know at the bivouac who’s won.
