Guy’s no glory hunter

Motorcycle News (UK) - - THIS WEEK -

While I appreciate that a lot of the motorcycling fraternity would love nothing more than seeing Guy Martin back at the TT, the comments from Rob Allen (MCN Letters, December 7) miss the point. As many teams, journalists, TV crews and employers have found, Guy paddles his own canoe. He is first and foremost very proud of his day job and is also motivated by more than seeing his name in history. I, for one, am more than happy to see Guy in China, riding dirt bikes across a lake and cycling to the ends of the earth while dreaming about his next ratchet purchase. If and when Guy chooses to return to the TT we should just rejoice in the fact that he has done so because he wants to and not because he feels he has to for money or glory.
