Calling me an airhead?
I know it’s not uncommon for oldies like me to write in praising the bikes of yesteryear, but that’s exactly what I’m going to do! Having had bikes for 45 years and sampled every kind of machine, I am happy to see out my days on my lovely 36-year-old R65 airhead. No ABS, no ride-by-wire, no traction control and best of all, no computers at all. Thank goodness because I wouldn’t know where to start to maintain a bike like that whereas this little beauty is a doddle. It’s not quite original though. My R65 is a thing of real beauty and a real head-turner thanks to some very tidy work by a skilled Polish engineer. So, my advice is, take a good old bike and pretty it up, you won’t be disappointed and you won’t spend a fortune every time it needs some work. Horace Turbridge, email
