What’s good? Abus have a large variety of disc locks ranging from the extremely lightweight through to the alarmed and seriously hard to nobble. This handy little Thatcham-approved unit, the Trigger 330, falls somewhere near the middle on price, features and protection. It’s one-hand operable, is small, neat, durable and is visually arresting in fluro yellow (other colours are available). The pin is 9.5mm of finest steel, while the body is also hardened steel, wrapped in plastic. It comes with a carry case so you can pack the lock away in your bag without getting everything covered in brake dust and dirt, and a reminder cord so you’re less likely to do an involuntary stoppy if you forget it and try to ride away. It’s still available, but has been superseded by the Alarm 350.

What’s not? It’s not the meatiest of deterrents, nor the most bullet-proof disc lock that Abus offer – but it’s dramatically better than nothing and a good visual deterrent.
