UCCIO SAYS: ‘The atmosphere in the team is fantastic now’

Motorcycle News (UK) - - THIS WEEK -

Rossi’s close friend and advisor Uccio Salucci has seen the mood in the Yamaha garage transform since Jorge Lorenzo left and reckons Rossi has a season before his new team-mate starts beating him regularly.

Uccio enthused: “The atmosphere is fantastic now that Lorenzo is gone and Viñales has arrived. He’s very fast and very young, but the atmosphere is great. The bike needs to improve a little, but there’s big potential there.

“We’ll see how it changes Vale, because Lorenzo was very strong and had a lot of experience. Maverick maybe needs a year to learn, I hope. He’s very fast over one lap, but we’ll see how he does during the race. He’s 15 years younger than Vale; maybe that’s too big a challenge!”

“We’re 37 years old, and for sure we need to stop in the next two years – but with Valentino you never know. It depends if he’s still fast or not, but if he continues like this season why should he stop? If he needs to stop now, then there are another 22 riders who were behind him who also need to stop racing!”
