It’s not rocket science, but it nearly is
In 2008 the company opened their own material testing laboratory, specialising in metallurgical and metallographic analysis (translated: studying alloys). Dyno Akrapovič carry out emissions tests, Ec-type approval and prototype testing with their TUV Süd-certified dynamometer. Foundry Akrapovič is the only exhaust supplier with its own titanium foundry. Left over titanium from production is recycled here. Laser cutters and 3D camera The 2D and 3D laser cutter minimises waste and can cut parts with precision. The 3D camera creates 3D images of the element it is scanning, ensuring a precise fit. Sound engineering Sound engineers use spectral analysis and sound presentations on 3D graphs are used to capture the exhaust’s note. It’s then finetuned to make it sound correct. Hydroforming Hydroforming uses high water pressure (1000– 4000 bars) to form intricate tube shapes. A tube is bent and cut and then placed into the hydroforming machine.
