SUZUKI OFFER CHEAP THRILLS
While most of the big Japanese manufacturers were flying with their super-sporty 750s and Honda were rewriting the rulebook with their new 900cc FireBlade, Suzuki were busy trying to catch up. The GSX-R750 was still doing well but the firm could do little to combat the Blade or Honda's VFR750. Enter the RF900. Hot on the heels of the RF600, the 900 offered awesome all-round ability at a decent price. Its £6799 pricetag was £1300 cheaper than the Kawasaki ZX-9R... and it was pretty rapid. But, like the 600, the looks were a bit Blake's 7 and sates stuttered. It lasted until 1999 and you can pick a tidy one up now for as little as £1500.
