I don’t like the look of handlebar muffs but can they really keep out the cold?

Motorcycle News (UK) - - Garage -

My Honda NC750 has heated grips but the recent cold has still left me struggling. Are handlebar muffs worth it? I don’t like the look of them, but a couple of mates have told me they rate them. Gary Smith, Stevenage

Answered by Keith Roissetter, Infinity Motorcycles They are not just worth it, but in my world at this time of the year they’re essential. Look up a windchill chart to see the difference. If you’re only battling the ambient temperature rather than the windchill then you’re off to a good start. The long-established Oxford Rainseals work well and allow good access to your switchgear. Slightly smaller models such as they Tucano R363s and Bike-it Boxers look nicer, but some people find accessing the switchgear awkward. If you really want warmth Tucano offer a heated model for £119.99.
