Our bikes: Keep the thieves at bay

Four tips to defeat thieves at home

Motorcycle News (UK) - - This Week In Mcn -

Get grounded

Fitting a ground anchor in your garage? Don’t place it for convenience – if it’s easy for you to access it’ll be easy for thieves to get at too. A location near a wall or in the corner of the garage is ideal.

Out of sight

Don’t advertise your garage to the whole world, so keep the door closed at all times. Leaving it open while you’re washing your bike or cutting the lawn is only inviting unwanted attention and trouble.

Entry level

Examine your doors and gates to see if there’s any way to make them more secure. A padlock and hasp is all well and good, but if it can be unscrewed and removed in 30 seconds it’s useless.

Don’t be a tool fool

Don’t make life easy for criminals. Put away any hand or power tools that thieves could use to pry off any locks or chains fitted to your bike. Hide them away, or better still lock them in a cabinet.
