HONDA CLAIM ‘MORAL VICTORY’
The Monster Energy Honda squad have claimed a ‘moral victory’ in this year’s race, which saw four stage wins and the fastest time overall not enough to win the race for Spaniard Joan Barreda (above) after an hour-long penalty for him and his team-mates early in the race for refuelling their CRF450S outside one of the designated areas. But despite the results, Barreda, who ended up finishing fifth overall, 45 minutes behind Sam Sunderland, says he’s come to terms with the result.
He said: “I did everything I could, but we were unable to reach the goal. But I feel calm because I’ve given it my best shot.”
