MV were un­doubted kings of the rac­ing world in 1970. The firm won ev­ery world 500 ti­tle be­tween 1958 and 1974 and dom­i­nated the 250 and 350 class, too. Rid­ers like John Sur­tees, Mike Hail­wood, Giacomo Agos­tini (left) and Phil Read helped but the driv­ing force was fac­tory founder Count Agusta. After his death in 1971, MV lost its way and with­drew from rac­ing in 1976.
