‘He’ll struggle to match Dunlop and Hutchy’
Ex-racer and TV commentator is shocked
“I’m shocked to see him back. With the best will in the world, it was starting to look like he’d never win a TT so it made sense to walk away.
“I think last year Hutchy and Dunlop showed they’re on a different level and I don’t think Guy will match that. However, as long as he’s doing it for the right reasons, fair play to him.
“Why hasn’t he won a TT? He was clearly fast enough but would lose concentration. His early laps were always faster and then he dropped off. He did have a lot of bad luck, too.
“It’s a new bike but they know what they’re doing. My question would be: ‘How well will the totallynot - corporate Mr Martin gel with the completely corporate Honda marketing department?’
“I’d love to see him win a TT and say, ‘That’s it, I’ve done it and I’m hanging my leathers up’. Anyone who’s taken the risks he’s taken around there deserves it.”
The jury’s out on Guy’s chances
