Lorenzo: ‘I won’t fail at Ducati’

Motorcycle News (UK) - - This Week -

Andrea Dovizioso says heõs relishing the challenge of lining up alongside new team-mate Jorge Lorenzo on the factory Ducati GP17 machine come Qatar. Heõs keen to beat his team-mate, but also thinks he can learn a lot from him.

He said: Òitõll be a big challenge comparing myself to Jorge, and I know itõll be difficult, but I think IÕM in a good situation with my career, despite being 30 years old, and IÕM excited about the challenge ahead.

Òour goal is to challenge for the podium every weekend, but IÕM still not 100% convinced that itõll happen. Itõs something special to really fight for it every weekend and weõve not managed that yet. The engineers have worked a lot through the winter, and Gigi has a lot of things ready to try and improve in every area from Malaysia.

Ògigi took a risk and brought Jorge here. Thatõs a challenge because for sure he expects to win. But itõs nice to see Gigi with this confidence. It means that he believes in the project, his engineers and riders. Weõre missing something but itõs not impossible to get it.ó

Teacher’s pet? Dovizioso, right, expects to learn a lot from his new team-mate
