If this ride doesn’t make you want to spend a weekend in Wiltshire, nothing will. It has scenery, fast roads, tight corners and great pubs.

Starting at Blandford Forum you head to Wimborne Minster, then up and back through the Wiltshire Downs before turning east towards Salisbury on the A354 – a quick and open road. If you are on a smaller capacity bike, cut off the Salisbury section and instead take the A3081 directly to Shaftesbury.

The run to Shaftesbury is just an appetiser, the main course is the A350 from Shaftesbury to Warminster. Cutting over Cranborne Chase, the A350 is a rollercoaster of a road that is fast and flowing, with big changes in elevation. It’s a fantastic route that many in the Bath and Bristol area head towards when the sun is out (so there is sometimes a degree of police interest).

If you reach Warminster and are still in the mood for a bit more riding, join the A303 towards Andover and take the A345 towards Devizes before turning to Marlborough and returning to the A303 via the A338.
