A WHOLE NEW CLASS - SU­PERS­PORT 600s

Kawasaki’s GPZ6 may have started it, but it was the CBR that spawned a host of ri­vals that re­ally cre­ated the 600 class.

THE ‘CBR CHAL­LENGE’

The RD350 Pro-am may be the most fa­mous one-make race series, but this series in 198788 ran it close, kick-start­ing the ca­reers of many ’90s rac­ers.

FULLY EN­CLOSED BODY­WORK

We dubbed it ‘ the jel­ly­mold’. But it worked and oth­ers, such as the Du­cati Paso, fol­lowed.

HUGGERS

The rear guards bolted to the swingarm are com­mon­place to­day both as af­ter­mar­ket ex­tras and as fac­tory fit­tings but started here (we think).
