Champ finds himself on thin ice
Motogp world champion Marc Marquez is never afraid of a new challenge, or riding on the ragged edge of adhesion, but he really went off-piste recently to ride his Motogp bike up a ski run on the Hahnenkamm mountain in the Alps.
With modified tyres featuring snow spikes, and the help of Austrian ice speedway legend Franky Zorn and TV ski pundit Armin Assinger, Marquez did for two wheels what Max Verstappen did for four when he took his F1 car for a spin in the same spot in 2016. Marquez said: “It was really difficult to keep the bike under control, but I’m young and it’s good fun to try some crazy things! I could really get going and I had a great feeling. The grip was unbelievable, enough for a wheelie!”
