SHED-BUILT BIKES ‘I will keep this for as long as keep riding’

David Clarke 2008 Triumph Thruxton

Motorcycle News (UK) - - This Week -

Retired IT manager David Clarke has owned eight Hinckley Triumphs, so it was only a matter of time before he customised one.

He’s taken a 2008 Thruxton and turned it into unique café racer. He said: “I loved that style of bike in the 1960s and wanted to build my own.”

The brakes have been replaced with six-pot Pretech calipers up front and the suspension has been sorted with a pair of Ikon rear shocks, while the forks have Maxton internals. There’s an Arrow exhaust the wheels are a set of bespoke custom offerings from the Devon Rim Company.

Clarke has further enhanced the bike with a Manx style alloy tank and also replaced the seat. Some subtle Norman Hyde CNC indicators complete the look.

David had dreamt of owning a Norvin, but he’s happy that he hasn’t had to shell out silly amounts of cash for his café racer. He said: “As I get older I appreciate the light weight, so I will be keeping this for as long as I continue biking.”
