What’s good? This is a simple, hand-operated fuel pump which I use primarily for transferring race fuel from a 25-litre drum to a mixing jug, and also for draining out my race bike’s tank when racing is finished for the day. It works by placing one end in the fuel tank and the other in the petrol can and squeezing the rubber hand bulb to work up some vacuum pressure before allowing the fuel to flow via gravity. It’s simply designed and functional, and much better than other cheap syphons being sold in the paddock – which often leak after just a few uses.

What’s not? The pump bulb is quite sturdy, which is good for build quality but does mean that you need a strong hand and a firm pumping action to generate a vacuum.
