Have a blast
With finance deals on the new Fireblades announced, it’s time to try one out
Honda dealers have Blades ready for you to test ride
They’re the most technologically advanced, production Hondas ever made – the new 2017 Fireblade and Fireblade SP have put the Japanese superbike back at the cutting edge of the superbike knife fight. With more power, less weight and – for the first time in the model’s history – classleading Bosch rider aids, the new Blade is a formidable package.
At the launch in late January, MCN’S Adam Child was blown away by the Blade’s new-found performance prowess: “The Blade is better than ever. It’s still a Blade, but a much smaller, lighter and thinner one. While it’s fast, the power is useable and the torque linear, and the rider aids are some of the best on the market,” he enthused.
But all this technology and performance comes at a price, and with the high-spec SP model (which comes complete with a quickshifter and Öhlins semi-active suspension) costing a cool £19,125 (that’s £4600 more than the outgoing SP model) you may feel like this hot new Blade is out of reach.
Fortunately, Honda UK have worked out a way for you to put a brand new Blade in the garage this spring for as little as £119 per month. Thanks to a £750 deposit contribution from Honda UK, riders only need to outlay an initial deposit of £3443.66 in order to bag the keys to the £15,225 base-model Fireblade. Meanwhile £169 per month after a £5507.91 deposit will get you the keys to the ultra-exotic £19k SP.
Dealers are taking pre-orders now and expect the new Blades to start arriving towards the beginning of March. But for those of you who’d like to try before you buy, here’s a list of dealers who hope to run a Blade or SP on their fleet this season.
