RI VA L S SUPERSPORTS
bhp tbc ● 190kg Yamaha aren’t releasing power figures yet, but expect the new R6 to make around 125bhp. Although still basically the same machine as before, the new R6 gets R1 styling and suspension, new electronics and a host of detail changes. It’s faster, lighter and more track-focused than the Ducati, but is still likely to be very compromised as a road bike.
Ducati 959 Panigale
157bhp ● 200kg With its extra power and stiffer chassis, the Supersport clearly couldn’t live with the 959 in a fist fight, but the Panigale is surprisingly comfy for what it is. Granted, the seat isn’t as plush and the bars are low, but those clip-ons are wide and there’s generous legroom. It’s also only a grand more than the Supersport S.
