A happy passenger is a future biker
Before you go…
Explain how the bike will feel during cornering, braking and acceleration. Give them a way of letting you know that they want to stop, such as a tap on your shoulder.
Have the bike on it on its sidestand with you already on and leaning towards the left. The pillion should stand on the left-hand peg and swing their right leg over the saddle.
Keep it smooth
Smooth inputs are the order of the day, so be assertive but not aggressive with your braking, throttle and gearshifts. You may need to brake earlier than usual.
When the ride’s over, your pillion should dismount in the same way as they got on. Have a chat to see how they enjoyed it and you might have found a new riding convert.
