Sykes sick and tyred at Aragon

Motorcycle News (UK) - - Sport -

A bout of infection so strong that Tom Sykes looked like a ghost after race two, having not eaten anything for days, had a major effect on the English rider at Aragon.

He got a podium in race one as a result of the Davies crash, but had to settle for fourth in race two as he found the physical side of racing very difficult and his tyre grip greatly compromised by strong, gusting winds.

“I thought I would feel better today but I am worse in my physical condition than yesterday because I have not eaten anything. It is that time of year. We have been travelling from Australia and Thailand, then we have come here in the cold wind.”

The first day winds made Sykes use up his rear tyre too much to maintain his pace and stay on line. But even after what he called a terrible weekend he completed his races with a third and fourth, and is only four points off second place.
