BIK­ERS RIDE IN LON­DON TO RAISE THEFT IS­SUES

Hun­dreds of mo­tor­cy­clists at­tended a mo­tor­cy­cle theft aware­ness ride that took place in Lon­don on April 1. The aware­ness ride was prompted by a re­port that said mo­tor­cy­cle theft in Lon­don had risen by 44% over the course of two years. In­sur­ance bro­kers Ca­role Nash sup­ported the protest ac­tion af­ter their own re­search re­vealed that Lon­don, Brighton and Southamp­ton are the UK’S most ma­jor hot spots for mo­tor­cy­cle theft.

On av­er­age, 26,000 mo­torcy- cles are stolen every year, at a cost of £105 mil­lion. Of the bikes stolen, Hon­das are the most pop­u­lar then Yamaha, Vespa, Suzuki and Kawasaki.

“We know how im­por­tant our cus­tomers’ mo­tor­cy­cles are to them and how much money can be in­vested in them,” says Re­becca Dono­hue, Head of Mar­ket­ing at Ca­role Nash. “We are com­mit­ted to work­ing closely with both in­dus­try ex­perts and the Met­ro­pol­i­tan Po­lice to drive down the rate of mo­tor­cy­cle theft.”
