Brookes fights through to fourth
Josh Brookes was able to salvage a fourth place from what was a tricky weekend for the Aussie and his Anvil Hire TAG Yamaha team.
A tough practice and qualifying saw him hampered in race one and he could only manage 10th. But he faced an even bigger challenge in the second outing starting from 11th on the grid. However, a strong charge through the pack saw him pick off his rivals to eventually finish fourth after passing Honda’s Jason O’halloran on the final lap.
“We started the weekend with a bike that was fairly difficult to ride,” said Brookes. “So obviously, there are positives to be taken from the strong results!
“We’re just missing a couple of tenths in the early stages, the front end of the bike is brilliant. I wouldn’t change a thing there, we just need to work a little more on the rear suspension. We’re really close!” ■ Brookes tests Norton, p76
