Christian Iddon was knocking on the door of his debut MCE British Superbike victory in a strong showing for the Tyco BMW team this weekend.

Pushing winner Luke Mossey from start to finish in Monday’s second race, it looked as though Iddon could have nicked the win until he dropped off slightly in the dying stages.

Together with a strong fight for the podium in race one, the result sees his confidence boosted after a tough time in pre-season testing.

“I wasn’t that positive at the start of the season because I was getting frustrated with the same issues as last year,” Iddon told MCN. “Even at Donington we got a podium, but it’s a good circuit for me and the BMW, so I even left there without being too happy, but we’ve really turned things around this weekend.

“We’ve made a few slight chassis changes, nothing too massive but it’s a big improvement. We still haven’t got a motorbike I feel I can race properly, but we’re getting there.”
