What the mighty FZ750 gave us
5-VALVES PER CYLINDER
The FZ was the first of the many great 20-valve fours that became something of a trademark for Yamaha in subsequent years.
AN ENGINE INCLUDED IN THE OVERALL DESIGN
Before the FZ it was common to design an engine then try to squeeze it into a chassis. With the FZ whole package was designed at the same time.
A long wheelbase and low centre of gravity led to excellent handling in an era when this was by no means common.
Between 1985 and 1988 it beat Suzuki's GSX-R750 in three out of four British Superstock Championships.
