Cool summer jackets

Q I want a summer jacket that will let the air flow

I’m planning a trip to Italy in July and am thinking of getting a perforated textile jacket to wear on the long (and hopefully) hot trip south. What features should I look for? Alex Mcdonald, St Albans

A Answered by Keith Roissetter, Infinity Motorcycles Even Italy can be cold and wet in July, so carry a long-sleeved thermal layer and a roll-up waterproof jacket as well. The Dainese Air Frame D1 is one of our most popular models in this genre, and it comes with a thin windproof liner that can zipped out.

The Alpinestars AST-1 Air looks good value and undercutting that is the Spada Air Pro II.

All three of these come with shoulder and elbow armour and have a pocket for a decent back protector. Meanwhile, the Knox Zephyr already has a back protector and the shell has a higher degree of abrasion resistance than the other models. It’s well worth a look.
