Wind through Wales

Get away from the coast and enjoy inland loop

Motorcycle News (UK) - - This Week -

Wales seems to breed great roads and this loop around Newtown is another example of the superb stretches of tarmac that attract bikers from all over the UK and beyond.

Starting at Newtown, the A483 is a fast but twisty A-road that cuts down to Llandrindod Wells, undulating as it climbs and falls through this hilly region. It’s a great road and one that sees many riders flock to enjoy its curves on a sunny weekend. Turning right just before Llandrindod, the A44 takes you across to Rhayader and is fast and challenging.

This stretch of road, as well as the run out of Rhayader on the A470, is a popular spot for police patrols so keep an eye on your speed. After leaving Rhayader the A470 follows the path of the river Wye for a few miles and onto Llangurig and Llanidloes before the A489 returns you to your starting point at Newtown.

tally? What better way to top up the distancdistancee on your 2017 #ride5000miles
