FROM THE NORTH Peak practice
If you take this route to the Festival you will almost be tempted to turn up late because it is a fabulous ride! The run out of Holmfirth on the A6024 is a joy and then when you cut through the Peak District it gets even more spectacular. Loads of riders are attracted to the notorious Cat and Fiddle, but other roads are quieter and more fun to ride. Matlock is great to explore and the final few roads are quick but not overly challenging, so you’ll arrive relaxed but happy.
The viewpoint on the A6024 that overlooks Holmfirth is truly stunning. Comedy pictures using the metal picture frame are a must…
Stop for a cuppa at: There are loads of coffee stops in Buxton, just don’t make a detour to the Cat and Fiddle pub at the top of the A537 – it’s shut!
Watch out for: The Cat and Fiddle Pass is notorious for accidents and therefore attracts police to this area. While this route avoids it, speed cameras are still active in the area.
