FROM THE EAST Sunny Hunny surprise
W hile the final 40 miles of this route along the A47 from King’s Lynn to the showground are a bit of a slog, the preceding 90 more than make up for the Fens’ flatness! The coastal road from Great Yarmouth to Cromer and then on towards Hunstanton is simply wonderful and full of hidden surprises and pretty villages. It can get a bit heavy with tourist traffic, and overtaking is tricky due to its narrowness, but if you get a good run you will love everything East Anglia has to offer – especially the seafood!
Take a picture at: Stop at Cromer for a picture on the harbour before sampling one of the famous Cromer crabs or strolling along the Victorian pier.
Stop for a cuppa at: Hunstanton is a biking hotspot and the fish and chips are excellent. There is loads of bike parking and there are plenty of chippies to choose from.
Watch out for: Be very careful with overtakes. The roads are narrow, the tourists unaware and caravans often take up much of the tarmac.
