SWM Gran Milano

Motorcycle News (UK) - - Feature -

The Gran Milano is SWM’S café racer and the firm’s styling team have hit the nail squarely on the head. The twin high-level pipes, single seat (you also get a dual bench seat) and small front light give it a lovely silhouette, but unlike the scrambler, the café racer’s styling compliments its handling. Thanks to fullyadjustable suspension front and rear, 17-inch wheels, a radial Brembo brake, clip-ons and some odd almost road-legal wet-style tyres, the Gran Milano is a proper back road weapon.

The 440cc air-cooled engine needs working, but it will top 70mph and the handling is light and agile. Almost like riding a fast 125, everything is sacrificed for of corner speed and with the thumping single-cylinder soundtrack it is a riot to ride. It’s also surprisingly comfortable as the clip-ons sit above the top yoke, although I found the tank dug into my thigh. Nonetheless, I enjoyed every minute of it.
