‘We will run at the TT’
Despite their North West 200 withdrawal and not yet knowing the cause of Mcguinness’ crash, team boss Twelvetrees assured MCN that Honda have no plans to withdraw Guy Martin from the 2017 Isle of Man TT, which gets underway next week.
“We will run at the TT,” he said. “That is our objective. Of course, we will go back, figure out what happened, make our counter measures and we will be there.”
The team wouldn’t be drawn on whether they’d replace 45-year- old Mcguinness for the event, but with Guy Martin severely off the pace on both the new Fireblade and the CBR600RR at not only the North West 200 but also Tandragee, Cookstown and Scarborough, getting a replacement for Mcguinness would clearly bolster their chances of success. MCN understands Honda bosses approached Cameron Donald about the possibility of replacing Mcguinness at the TT but the Aussie turned them down.
